Eduard Kranner (born March 1, 1893 in Vienna ; † August 9, 1977 ) was an Austrian lawyer and writer in Krems an der Donau and Eggenburg .

Life

His grandfather was active in the Steiner National Guard in 1848.

Kranner spent his youth and school days in Krems (Matura at the Piaristengymnasium with Erwin H. Rainalter ).

His studies at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna were interrupted by the First World War. After the war he studied law at the University of Innsbruck . During this time he became a member of the Gothia Vienna fraternity in 1913 . In the years 1931–1935 he studied German and philosophy at the University of Vienna . Personal contacts to Josef Weinträger and Josef Nadler , a literary historian, came from this time .

Kranner first practiced the profession of lawyer in Eggenburg (until 1948), later he worked in Krems until 1961.

From 1938 to 1945 he was mayor of Eggenburg. The fact that he was valued in Eggenburg even after the Second World War is due to the fact that he succeeded in preventing the German Wehrmacht from fortifying the city and detonating it from being detonated, thus possibly preventing a fire by the Red Army .

His literary work includes literary historical works as well as short stories and novellas. The story “Die Pfaffenberger Nacht” met with a great response in Krems and was set to music by Horst Ebenhöh .
