Eduard Marcour (born October 24, 1848 in Kalkar , † August 1, 1924 in Koblenz ) was a German journalist for Catholic newspapers and politicians for the Center Party .

Life

Marcour attended high school in Emmerich . He then studied philology and history in Münster , Göttingen and Bonn . He received his doctorate as Dr. phil. He then worked as an author and journalist, mainly for Catholic newspapers. He worked in Mainz , Cologne and Münster. In Münster he was editor-in-chief of the Westphalian Merkur. Between 1891 and 1894 he was editor-in-chief of the center newspaper Germania . Under his leadership, the paper claimed to be the central organ of German Catholics. The newspaper was aimed at the Catholic elite. After that, he was editor-in-chief of the Koblenzer Volkszeitung and director of the Görres printing company until 1920.

Marcour was a member of the Center Party. He was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1896 to 1918 and of the German Reichstag as a member of the constituency of Düsseldorf 8 (Kleve - Geldern) from 1893 to 1918.
