Eduard Schmidt-Weissenfels
Eduard Schmidt-Weißenfels (born September 1, 1833 in Berlin , † April 24, 1893 in Bolzano ) was a liberal German writer and politician .
Life
Schmidt-Weißenfels began his journalistic activity early, became secretary of the Prussian National Assembly in 1848 , then a member of the First Chamber of the Prussian Parliament, took part in the campaign in Schleswig-Holstein in 1850 and then went to Paris , where he after the coup of Napoleon III. arrested and expelled from the country a few months later.
He then lived in different places, in England , Berlin, Leipzig , Prague , Gotha , where he came into close relationships with Duke Ernst II and published the then sensational brochure The Duke of Gotha and His People (1861). Most recently he lived in Bozen , where he died and was buried in the city cemetery south of the Marienpfarrkirche ( reburied in St. Jakob-Oberau since 1931 ).
Schmidt-Weißenfels was one of the co-founders of the "Schlaraffia" in Prague and later a member of the Stuttgart local group (internally called "Reych") of the Schlaraffia Association .
