Eduard Siegl

Eduard Siegl (born October 24, 1831 in Mährisch Schönberg , † November 27, 1889 in Göding ) was an Austrian farmer and politician .

Life

Born the son of a factory owner, Siegl studied law in Prague after attending grammar schools in Kremsier and Olomouc . During his studies in 1848 he became a member of the Markomannia Prague fraternity , with which he was involved in the revolution in May 1848 . In 1849 he was on his flight to Hungary arrested in Olomouc and after Hradcany in custody brought. In 1850 he was sentenced to death , then pardoned to 15 years in heavy prison and then given amnesty in 1854 . He served his sentence in the fortress in Komorn . After his release he worked in agriculture . In 1862 he became the technical director of the sugar factory in Barzdorf. From 1873 to 1875 he was a member of the Progress Party and later for the United Left and the German Club a member of the Reichsrat for the rural communities of north-western Silesia.
