Eduard Hermann Eduard Sonnenburg (born November 3, 1848 in Bremen , † May 25, 1915 in Bad Wildungen ) was a German surgeon and university professor .

Life

During his studies in Heidelberg in 1867 he became a member of the Frankonia Heidelberg fraternity . After receiving his doctorate from the University of Jena in 1872, Sonnenburg was an assistant doctor to Georg Albert Lücke (1829-1894) at the Kaiser-Wilhelms-Universität Strasbourg from 1873 to 1880 , where he completed his habilitation in 1876 . From 1880 he worked as an assistant at the Surgical University Clinic in Berlin. At the Friedrich-Wilhelms University was Sonnenburg 1881 Berlin lecturer , in 1883 associate professor and in 1908 an honorary professor . In 1899 he was appointed to the Secret Medical Council . In 1886 he was one of the founders of the Berlin Surgical Society . In 1890 he was appointed chief physician in the surgical department of the Moabit City Hospital .

Eduard Sonnenburg was married to Anna Westphal (1864–1943), a daughter of Carl Westphal . The couple had a son and three daughters. His final resting place is in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .
