Eduard Wex

Georg Karl Eduard Wex (born July 14, 1827 in Beverungen ; † February 14, 1902 ) was a German civil engineer .

Life

Wex was the son of Georg Heinrich Wex and Philippine Wilhelmine Sophie Wex, nee Müller. From 1851 he worked as a site manager and from 1856 as a builder . After working for several years with the Saarbrücken Railway , the Prussian Eastern Railway and the Hanover State Railway , he became a member of the railroad management in Kassel in 1869 and soon afterwards in Hanover . From 1867 to 1877 he worked as an employee of Ernst Dircksen in the construction of the Berlin Ringbahn . In 1870 he became a government and building officer.

From 1873 he was lecturing council with the title of a secret building council . In 1874 he became chairman of the Royal Railway Directorate of the Eastern Railway. From 1881 to 1893 Wex was President of the Berlin Railway Directorate , from 1890 with the title of a secret construction councilor. He retired on November 30, 1893. Wex was unmarried.

In 1911, a street in Berlin parallel to the Ringbahn between Bundesplatz in Wilmersdorf and Innsbrucker Platz on the suburb of Friedenau and Schöneberg was named after him in honor of Eduard Wex .
