Eduard Zeis
Eduard Zeis (born October 1, 1807 in Dresden ; † June 28, 1868 there ) was a German surgeon.
Life
Zeis studied in Leipzig , Bonn , Munich and again Leipzig, where he received his doctorate in medicine in 1832 .
In 1844 Zeis became a full professor of surgery at the University of Marburg and director of the surgical clinic there . In 1847 he was elected to the Leopoldina . From 1850 he was the first senior physician in the department for external diseases in the new Dresden-Friedrichstadt hospital . His successor at the chair in Marburg was Wilhelm Roser .
Zeis died in his home town of Dresden in 1868 and was buried in the Elias cemetery there in field C 5-42.
The Zeis glands are named after him .
