Eduardo Avaroa is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Eduardo Avaroa is the central place of the canton Eduardo Avaroa and is located in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Andamarca in the province of Sud Carangas . The village is located at an altitude of 3,775 m above sea level on the southernmost foothills of the Serranía de Huayllamarca , an approximately 100 km long ridge that extends on the Bolivian Altiplano in a north-west-south-east direction.

Eduardo Avaroa is located west of Lake Poopó on the eastern edge of the Altiplano in front of the Cordillera Azanaques , which is part of the Cordillera Central mountain range . The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the fluctuations between the seasons.

Eduardo Avaroa is 127 kilometers by road southwest of Oruro , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Oruro the dirt road Ruta 12 leads in a south-westerly direction 62 kilometers via Toledo to Villa Copacabana . From there, another unpaved road branches off to the south, which leads via Laca Laca Quita Quita to Andamarca and for a further eleven kilometers to Avaroa .
