Andamarca (also: Santiago de Andamarca ) is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia . Andamarca was founded in 1723.
Location in the vicinity
Andamarca is the administrative seat of the province of Sud Carangas and the central place of the Municipio Andamarca and is located 120 km southwest of the city of Oruro . It is located at an altitude of 3748 m above sea level on the eastern edge of the southern foothills of the Serranía de Huayllamarca , an approximately 100 km long ridge that extends on the Altiplano in a north-west-south-east direction. The town is located on the Ruta de los Tres Siglos from Oruro to Santuario de Quillacas , 10 km west of Lake Poopó and 15 km southeast of the Laguna Jayu Kkota .

Andamarca is located west of Lake Poopó on the eastern edge of the Altiplano in front of the Cordillera Azanaques , which is part of the Cordillera Central mountain range . The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the fluctuations between the seasons.

From Oruro, the unsurfaced national road Ruta 12 leads in a south-westerly direction 62 kilometers via Toledo to Villa Copacabana .
