Eduardo Eliseo Martín (born December 26, 1953 in Venado Tuerto , Santa Fe Province , Argentina ) is Archbishop of Rosario .

Life

Eduardo Eliseo Martín first studied chemistry after graduating from high school in Venado Tuerto, but then entered the seminary of the Seminario Metropolitano Nuestra Señora in Santa Fe and studied Catholic theology and philosophy . He was ordained a priest on December 26, 1980 by Bishop Mario Picchi SDB in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Venado Tuerto. He was pastor of San Cayetano in Venado Tuerto and was appointed vicar general of the diocese of Venado Tuerto in 1990 by Bishop Paulino Reale Chirina and confirmed in 2000 by his successor Gustavo Arturo Help . Since 1993 he has also been pastor of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

From 1987 to 1989 he was also professor at the seminary of the Archdiocese of La Plata in La Plata , the capital of the province of Buenos Aires, and professor of theology at the Instituto Católico de Enseñanza Superior in Venado Tuerto.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him the fifth bishop of Villa de la Concepción del Río Cuarto in 2006 . He was ordained bishop on May 19, 2006 by Paulino Reale Chirina , former bishop of Venado Tuerto ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Venado Tuerto Gustavo Arturo Help and the Archbishop of Bahía Blanca Guillermo Garlatti .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Rosario on July 4, 2014. The inauguration took place on August 24th of the same year.

Eduardo Eliseo Martín is a member of the Commission for Social Pastoral Care of the Argentine Bishops' Conference CEA. He is committed to Panorama Católico Internacional . In 2008 he visited the pilgrimage site in Međugorje .
