Edward "Eddie" Boyd (born May 11, 1916 in Stevenston , North Ayrshire , Scotland , † December 17, 1989 in Glasgow ) was a Scottish crime writer and screenwriter for films, TV series and radio plays.

Life

He has written many series for BBC Scotland and Granada Television as well as numerous radio plays for radio.

1967 got Boyd along with Peter Yates and George Markstein , the award from the Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) for Best Original Screenplay for the film Million Robbery ( Robbery ). In 1971 he was also honored by the WGGB with the award for the best radio series ( Best British Radio Features Script ).

Badgers in the Owl Light or The Search of Peter Talion

Badgers in the Owl Light or Peter Talion's Search is one of Boyd's most famous radio plays. It is a three-part series that was produced by Südwestfunk .

Peter Talion infiltrates a Scottish rural commune that lives in the old Balphinn House. He is on the hunt for his brother's murderer and witnesses how the alternative residential community has to defend itself against the anger of angry villagers. But the search is also developing very differently than Peter had thought.

The thriller derives its special tension on the one hand from the concise voice of Christian Brückner , who speaks the narrative title character with vocal nuances. On the other hand, all spoken scenes are backed by the music of an acoustic guitar , which through its constant variations only provides a few chords for a hypnotic atmosphere and increasing tension.

Directed by Heiner Schmidt , the speakers for the main characters were Christian Brückner, Manfred Zapatka , Friedhelm Scheele , Dieter Zimmer , Heidemarie Rohweder , Jochen Busse , Lana Löber , Ilka Höttger , Karin Schroeder , Wolfgang Büttner , Antje Hagen , Manfred Georg Herrmann , Hans Röhr , Wolfgang Reinsch , Jürgen Andreas and Ernst Jacobi .
