Edward Joseph Hunkeler (born January 1, 1894 in Medicine Lodge , Kansas , USA ; † October 1, 1970 ) was Archbishop of Kansas City .

Life

Edward Joseph Hunkeler received on 14 June 1919, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 10, 1945 Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Grand Island . The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani , ordained him episcopal on May 1 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Omaha , James Hugh Ryan , and the Bishop of Green Bay , Stanislaus Vincent Bona .

On March 28, 1951 Pius XII appointed him. to the Bishop of Kansas City. With the elevation of the diocese to an archbishopric on August 9, 1952, Edward Joseph Hunkeler became the first archbishop of Kansas City. On September 4, 1969, Hunkeler resigned and was named titular archbishop of Selsea .
