Edward Michael Keating

Edward Michael Keating (born April 17, 1925 in New Jersey , † April 2, 2003 in Palo Alto , California ) was an American newspaper publisher.

Life

Edward Michael Keating was the son of Harriet Martin and George Thomas Keating. On September 14, 1947, he married Helen English. He studied until 1950 at the Law School of Stanford University Law . In 1954 he was baptized a Catholic. He taught English at Santa Clara University . In 1962 he founded the Catholic quarterly magazine for literature and politics Ramparts in Menlo Park , which he published until 1967. After he was fired from Ramparts , he ran as a Democrat in the eleventh constituency of California for a seat in the House of Representatives of the United States , but only took 5.73 percent of the vote in the open primary , which also included Shirley Temple fifth place; the mandate went to Republican Pete McCloskey .
