Efstathios Tavlaridis ( Greek Ευστάθιος Ταυλαρίδης , born January 25, 1980 in Serres , Greece ) is a Greek football player .

Career

society

Tavlaridis began his professional career in 1997 at Iraklis Thessaloniki where he was under contract for four years. In the 2000/2001 season he played his first European Cup matches. With Iraklis he reached the second main round, but failed there despite a 3-2 away win at 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

In the following summer Tavlaridis moved to Arsenal in the English Premier League . At Arsenal, he met the two central defenders, set by coach Arsène Wenger, Sol Campbell and Kolo Touré, and as a result only played eight competitive games. Only one of them was a Premier League game which Arsenal beat Southampton FC 6-1 in May 2003 . During his time at Arsenal, he was able to book three titles with the championship, the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield . After Tavlaridis was only used sporadically, however, he was loaned to Portsmouth FC in January 2003 and in the following summer at the start of the 2003/2004 season at OSC Lille in France . In the following summer of 2004, Tavlaridis was firmly committed by Lille. He started with the French in the 2004 UEFA Intertoto Cup and reached one of the three finals held. After the first and second leg, Lille prevailed against União Leiria from Portugal and thus won the right to start the 2004/05 UEFA Cup, where the team was only just eliminated in the round of 16 against league rivals AJ Auxerre . In 2007, Tavlaridis moved to AS Saint-Étienne for a fee of 2.5 million euros . where he was under contract for a total of three years.

In 2010 Tavlaridis returned to Greece and signed a four-year contract with AE Larisa . However, after the club had to relegate to the end of the 2010/2011 season from the first division, the contract with Tavlaridis was dissolved and he moved to OFI Crete . After only one season he moved to Atromitos where he took part in the UEFA Europa League for the next three years .

In January 2015, the now 35-year-old Tavlaridis to joining Panathinaikos Athens .

National team

Tavlaridis played two international matches for the Greek national team in 2005 during the FIFA Confederations Cup in Germany . The coach of the Greek selection at that time was Otto Rehhagel . He previously played 19 games for the U-21 national team in his country between 1999 and 2001.
