Eftimios Youakim

Eftimios Youakim BS (born June 15, 1886 in Qaytuleh , † May 19, 1972 ) was Archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Zahlé and Furzol in Lebanon .

Life

On March 25, 1912, he was ordained as a religious priest of the Melkite Basilians by the Most Holy Redeemer . The appointment as bishop of Zahlé and Furzol took place on October 30, 1926. The Patriarch of Antioch Kyrillos IX. Moghabghab donated him episcopal ordination on December 9, 1926 ; Co- consecrators were Grégoire Haggiar , Bishop of Akka , and Nicolas Cadi , Archbishop of Bosra and Haūrān . With the elevation of the eparch Zahlé and Furzol in 1964 to the archeparchy Youakim was appointed archbishop. He attended all sessions of the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 and was co-consecrator to Archbishop Saba Youakim BS of Petra and Philadelphia in Jordan during his tenure . After his age-appropriate retirement on August 21, 1971, he was appointed titular archbishop of Scythospolis . He was succeeded by Archbishop Jean Bassoul BS.
