The Pulverbach is a right and western tributary of the Klosterbach in the district of Dillingen on the Danube in the Bavarian Swabia . It arises from the union of Egaugraben and Ruthengraben on the boundary of the city of Höchstädt on the Danube , into whose settlement area it flows.

geography

Egga dig

The 5 km long Egaugraben . which has the same river code as the Pulverbach, begins its course in the Wittislingen village of Schabringen . At high tide, water flows there at a right bend in the Egau to the left into its ditch. The Egaugraben runs from here for three and a half kilometers in an east-northeast direction and then from the left takes on the similarly long, but much more catchable Outer Riedgraben . Then it flows east and changes to the district of Höchstädt an der Donau , where it soon joins the Tiefried with the Ruthengraben .

Ruthengraben

The Ruthengraben is a right branch of the Klosterbach , which runs almost parallel to the Egaugraben / Pulverbach in the north. This vertically outgoing and vertically opening drainage ditch begins exactly opposite the confluence of the Brunnenbach in the Klosterbach near the Höchstädter Mittelmühle and continues the southern direction of this large tributary. The ditch, which is only about 0.6 km long, and especially in the lower reaches of the Egaugraben, leads part of the water in the Klosterbach to the Egaugraben, from both of which the Pulverbach arises.

Powder Bach

After the merging of the two trenches, the Pulverbach flows further east in the direction of the inlet of the narrower Egagraben. Almost touching the southern edge of the village of Deisenhofen in Höchstädter , he crosses under the district road from there to Steinheim an der Donau (DLG 25), then passes the Höchstädter oil mill, also known as the powder mill, where a less than 200 meters long left mill canal branches off and runs back, and steps after crossing under another district road (DLG 21) in only about 200 meters distance from Klosterbach into the settlement area of Höchstädt. A little north of the old town it runs under the road bridge of the B 16 and then, after a last turn to the left at the sand mill, flows into the Klosterbach in the village just before the bridge on Ellimahdstrasse from the right and, last but not least, southwest .

Catchment area

The Pulverbach drains an area of 21 km eastwards to the Danube tributary Klosterbach Klosterbach . It extends from about 465  m above sea level. NN highest point in the catchment area on the flat Southeast spur Zehentbergle of Langenberg's north of Wittl Isingen east to the mouth in Hoechstaedt on the Danube about 11 km far; across it, it measures just over 3 km at its widest point. The northern watershed runs consistently against the Klosterbach, already quite far to the west and close to it up to the mouth. From here on, the catchment area border first moves west, later west-north-west, only last from Wittlisingen north and soon maintains close contact with the right-wing competitor Egau , which is also aiming for the Danube. The watershed is at most clearly pronounced in the western tip of the catchment area around Wittlisingen.

Both competitors of the powder creek donate water over the upper Egaugraben and the Ruthengraben at least temporarily.

Tributaries and still waters

  • Egaugraben , right upper course, 5.1 km (also left flood ditch for the Egau )
    • Outer Riedgraben , from the left into the Egaugraben, 3.6 km and 9.4 km² (the Egaugraben only has a catchment area of 1.2 km²)
  • Ruthengraben , left upper course, approx. 0.6 km (right branch of the Klosterbach )

natural reserve

Within the Natura 2000 concept, the streams of Klosterbach, Pulverbach and Egaugraben are intended as FFH areas. In the course of a planned bypass around Dillingen an der Donau , an FFH compatibility study was carried out for crossing the Egau as well as Pulverbach and Brunnenbach.
