description
The Egestorff Monument was built in 1935 from sandstone by the sculptor Georg Herting . The large rectangular block consists of three horizontally stacked parts.
On the west side is one in the block relief - medallion embedded with a portrait of Egestorff, including the inscription: "Johann Egestorff, founder of Linden Industry, 1772 - 1834".
On two opposite sides of the block bears reliefs with three worker figures each , which stand for the industrial extraction and utilization of raw materials and are denoted more precisely by inscriptions: on the south side " iron - salt - coal ", on the north side " ores - technology - Lime ".
The east side of the monument bears another relief, a beehive (as a symbol of hard work) with the inscription "Unity makes you strong" and the inscription " Work brings blessings , joy, honor, bread ."
The artist's signature can also be found on the base on the east side of the block : “G. Herting Fec. 1935. "
