Ego Kill Talent is a Brazilian alternative rock band from São Paulo . The band name is an abbreviation of the phrase Too Much Ego Will Kill Your Talent ( English : Too much ego will kill your talent ).

history

The band was formed in December 2014. The members were previously active in bands such as Udora , Reação em Cadeia or Sayowa . The best- known member is the drummer Jean Dolobella, who played for Sepultura from 2006 to 2011 . In November 2015 the first EP Sublimated was released , which was recorded in the Family Mob Studios. The studio was founded by Dolobella and his bandmate Estevam Romera. The second EP Still Here was released in mid-2016 . After a few festival appearances, Estevam Romera left the band and was replaced by Niper Boaventura.

On January 20, 2017, the band released their self-titled debut album, which was produced and mixed by Steve Evetts . Various other EPs and live singles followed before Ego Kill Talent played for the first time in Europe . In addition to their own shows, the band played in the opening act for System of a Down , Within Temptation and Shinedown . In 2018, Ego Kill Talent opened the Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age Brazil tour . In the summer the band played at European festivals such as Download , Nova Rock , Graspop Metal Meeting as well as Rock am Ring and Rock im Park .

In October 2019, Ego Kill Talent was signed by BMG Rights Management . The band then traveled to the 606 studios to record their second studio album. Guest musicians include John Dolmayan (System of a Down), Roy Mayorga ( Stone Sour ) and skateboarder Bob Burnquist .

style

Theo van der Loo describes the music of his band as honest rock music , no metal and no stoner rock . In terms of melodies , the band also has Brazilian influences. A special feature of the band is that the musicians, with the exception of singer Jonathan Correa, swap instruments during the concerts.
