Ehrenstein is a district of Blaustein in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg . The community Blaustein was created on September 1st, 1968 through the union of the communities Ehrenstein and Klingenstein . The name Blaustein was newly developed at that time.

history

A Neolithic settlement on the eastern outskirts was discovered during excavations from 1952.

Ehrenstein was first handed down in 1209. The high medieval hamlet was created as a castle spot based on the castle of the same name on the Schlossberg. On this sat ministerials of the Counts of Dillingen . The castle came to the Söflingen monastery via the Counts of Württemberg and the Counts of Helfenstein as heirs of the Dillinger family in 1281 and was razed on the orders of King Rudolf von Habsburg .

The Söflingen monastery succeeded in steadily increasing its goods. In 1539 the local rulers bought it from the taverns of Winterstetten , who had inherited the Stein zu Klingenstein family at the end of the 15th century .

Through secularization , the place came to Bavaria in 1803 and through the border treaty between Bavaria and Württemberg in 1810 to the Kingdom of Württemberg , where it was subordinated to the Oberamt Ulm . In 1938 Ehrenstein came to the Ulm district . On September 1, 1968, the communities Ehrenstein and Klingenstein were merged to form the new community Blaustein.
