history
Klingenstein is first handed down in 1220. The castle and the settlement were imperial property in the possession of the Staufer or Dillingic ministerials , who named themselves after Klingenstein and were also mentioned as Ulm citizens in the 13th century.
Since the end of the 13th century the castle and hamlet were fiefdoms of the Counts of Fürstenberg . Parts of the place fiefdom of the Counts of Württemberg and Allod . From approx. 1290 to 1470 the Stein von Klingenstein , at times also citizens or Ausburger of the imperial city of Ulm, sat here .
After 1475, the property, which the barons of Bernhausen gradually united in their hands in the 16th century, split up . After the reconstruction of the Oberherrlingen Castle , they gave up the castle as a residence.
Klingenstein came to Bavaria in 1806 and, through the border treaty between Bavaria and Württemberg, to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1810 , where it was subordinated to the Blaubeuren Oberamt . In 1938 Klingenstein came to the district of Ulm . On September 1, 1968, the communities of Klingenstein and Ehrenstein were merged to form the new community of Blaustein.
