history

Eichstädt was first mentioned in 1350 when the village was handed over to Ulrich von Lindow as a fief . In the late Middle Ages it was a castle fief that belonged to Bötzow ; In 1474 a manor with four hooves and farms with 13 hooves were recorded. From the 16th century there were two manors in the village that belonged to the von Hünnicke and von Krämer families, who subsequently determined the history of Eichstadt. By the end of the 18th century, three more manors were added, but all manors in Eichstädt were reunited in one hand in 1805, when the place had 323 inhabitants. In the first half of the 19th century the inheritance of the peasants was abolished and the manor property came into civil possession. The population grew steadily in the sequence and amounted to 467 inhabitants for the village in 1885; after the Second World War there were around 600. During the time of the GDR , a machine rental station was set up for the farmers and a new housing estate opened up. After 1990 an industrial area was added and the infrastructure was comprehensively renewed. The old sheep pen was converted into a trotter stud, currently Germany's most successful. With effect from May 18, 1998, the municipality of Eichstädt was incorporated into the newly formed municipality of Oberkrämer.
