A woman like a fish ( La truite , literally "The Trout") is a French feature film from 1982 and the penultimate work by US film director Joseph Losey . The script is based on the novel of the same name (1964) by Roger Vailland, a friend of Losey . Losey wanted to film the material after its publication, for which Brigitte Bardot would have been available for the lead role, but at the time no producer showed any interest.
action
Isabelle Huppert plays Frédérique, a young country woman. She is extremely attractive to wealthy and sophisticated men, although she ultimately denies them sexually. Their experiences lead them from France to Japan.
criticism
In 1983, Zoom described the strip as “a large-scale chemical experiment that only partially works, although all requirements have been met and all regulations have been observed. Like a chemist the elements, Losey brings his people together, shakes them up a bit (geographically) and looks at what happens: However, very little happens, and this little could have been achieved with simpler means. ”Almost twenty years late, passe the work no longer fits into the contemporary film landscape. Bardot would have been the better cast, had perhaps brought the figure as a "little bitch". "Huppert they are as neurotic while suppressing with uncanny consistency everything she has on natural radiance, so the attraction that it according to script on the men and women of their environment must exercise completely implausible acts." Even the lexicon of international Films spoke of an experiment that analyzes relationships too coolly for the film to grasp and did not consider Huppert to be a convincing cast.
