Richard Hartley

Richard Neville Hartley (born July 28, 1944 in Holmfirth , Yorkshire , England ) is a British composer .

biography

Richard Neville Hartley began his music career while working as a pianist in Paris in the mid-1960s. He later toured Europe with the rock band Denny and the Witchdoctors . He helped with the musical design of the musical piece Jesus Christ Superstar was performed in London in 1972. There he met the director Jim Sharman and the actor Richard O'Brien know, for whom he later composed several plays. He made his film debut as a composer for the 1975 film comedy Die Romantische Engländerin, directed by Joseph Losey . From then on he regularly wrote music for plays and films. In 1985 he was nominated for his music in the adventure film Sheena - Queen of the Jungle with the negative award of the Golden Raspberry for the worst film music . He won an Emmy Award in 1999 for his music in Alice in Wonderland .
