Eirian Williams (born September 3, 1955 in Carmarthen ) is a former Welsh snooker referee .

Life

Prior to his career as a referee, Williams was a police officer in Llanelli, Welsh for eighteen years . His first license as a snooker referee - at that time still for the amateur area ( class C ) - he got in 1981. Ten years later he had received the highest license and was used at the Grand Prix 1991 for the first time in the game between Stuart Swinburn and Doug French .

The first game he directed that was televised was Jimmy White against Billy Snaddon in 1995. In 1998, his first final in a ranked tournament at the Welsh Open followed . In the course of his further career he was used in almost all major tournaments, including four finals of the World Snooker Championship .

In November 2014, he announced his resignation as a professional referee.
