Ejegayehu Dibaba

Ejegayehu Dibaba (born March 21, 1982 in Chefe near Bekoji ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .

She then celebrated her first major success at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. There she won the silver medal over 10,000 meters behind Xing Huina (CHN) and in front of her cousin Derartu Tulu . Earlier this year she had set her best time over 5000 m with 14: 32.74 min.

At the US indoor meeting Boston Indoor Games 2005 she won the silver medal over 5000 meters in the Reggie Lewis Center behind her younger sister Tirunesh , who set a new world record. This year she set a personal record of 30: 18.39 minutes over 10,000 m. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , like her sister, she initially competed over 10,000 meters, then on the penultimate day of the competitions also over 5000 meters. In both races her sister won gold and she herself bronze.

In the 10,000-meter run of the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, she was seventh.

In August 2015, she was subsequently awarded the victory of the Chicago Marathon 2011 , as the original winner Lilija Schobuchowa was convicted of doping.

Ejegayehu Dibaba is 1.60 m tall and has a competition weight of 46 kg.
