The Ejura / Sekyedumase District is one of 138 districts in Ghana . It is located in the center of the country in the Ashanti region and is one of 21 regional districts. The Ejura / Sekyedumase District borders the Offinso , Afigya Sekyere and Sekyere West districts . The Ejura / Sekyedumase District is located on the northern border of the Ashanti Region and therefore borders the Brong-Ahafo Region with its districts Nkoranza and Atebubu-Amantin . Joshua Ayarkwa is the chief executive of the 1,252 km² district with around 81,119 inhabitants . The district capital is Ejura .

geography

The climatic conditions in the district are determined by the consistently high humidity. Temperatures are highest between January and April, while July and August are the average coldest weeks of the year.

In the southwest of the district there are climatic conditions that favor semi-evergreen wet forest, in the north and east of the district savannah predominates.

Infrastructure

The road network consists of two main routes and 124 kilometers of unpaved secondary roads. The main routes are a 20-kilometer route between Aframso and Kasei. Another 15 km route leads from Aframso to Sekyedumasi. Only the four municipalities of Ejura, Sekyedumasi, Kasei and Kyeredeso have a connection to the electrical network. In these four municipalities, 1,300 households are supplied with electricity. The three municipalities of Hiawoanwu, Bonyon and Dromankuma have already laid the network, but the connection to the national power supply is still pending.

A post office and two further post offices have been opened throughout the district. A further 205 mailboxes are emptied regularly.

Only in the municipalities of Kasei, Hiawoanwu and Nkwanta is the water supply secured by mechanical pump systems. A further 56 communities are supplied with water from 148 Bochlöchern, seven communities use hand pumps.

A commercial bank, two rural banks and a development bank opened in the district. Three weekly markets are held in Ejura, Sekyedumasi and Anyinasu.

education

There are 29 kindergartens and 65 primary schools in Ejura / Sekyedumase. In 23 Junior Secondary Schools and two Senior Secondary Schools the young people receive a higher education.

The Junior Secondary School in Kasei is one of the most important libraries in the district with a book inventory of over 2000 volumes. The book inventory ranges from volumes for kindergarten children to supplies for senior secondary schools.

health

So far, three clinics and eight health centers have been operated for basic medical care. The health facilities provide 29 hospital beds and 13 camp beds.

Constituencies

In the district of Ejura / Sekyedumase forms a constituency of the same name. Here Alhaji Issifu Pangabu Mohammed won the seat in the Ghanaian parliament for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in the 2004 general election.
