Professional background

Entrepreneur

From 1963 Ekkehard Streletzki worked as a structural engineer in a test statics office in Munich . In 1967 he founded his own statics office in Munich. In 1972 he founded a statics office in Tehran . In Saudi Arabia, his structural engineering office was working on a construction project involving new high-rise buildings and a shopping center.

In 1976 Ekkehard Streletzki founded the service company Diabos in Munich . The company deals with cutting concrete with the help of diamond saws and drills. In the following years, Streletzki opened eight more Diabos branches in major German cities. Shortly before the reunification , he left the company and handed it over to his employees.

From the beginning of the 1990s, Ekkehard Streletzki founded other companies and took over holdings in Berlin and the New States . This included Uwetec, a company in the field of environmental technology , which he took over in 1992. It dealt with the implementation of various infrastructure and energy projects, including the construction of an energy-efficient brick factory in Moscow .

hotelier

In 1994 Ekkehard Streletzki opened the Estrel Hotel on Sonnenallee in Berlin-Neukölln on a former industrial area . One of the reasons for opening the Estrel was the high hotel prices in Berlin in the early 1990s. Ekkehard Streletzki, who often came to Berlin on business trips, decided to build a hotel himself that offers good hotel rooms at affordable prices. Until then, Streletzki had not dealt with hotels and, as he himself admits, understood nothing about hotels. Today it is not only Germany's largest, but also the most economically successful hotel, because money is made there with a room occupancy of only 35 percent.

In 2007 he opened his second hotel in the federal capital , the “Ellington Hotel Berlin” on Nürnberger Strasse . In 2009 Streletzki opened another hotel project, the "Restaurant & Hotel" in Britz Castle . Ekkehard Streletzki also holds shares in the Babelsberg Film Park in Potsdam.

The Estrel Hotel

The Estrel Hotel

The Estrel hotel with 1,125 rooms and suites, the largest hotel complex in Germany. The name of the hotel is made up of the first letter of the first name and the first syllable of the last name of its owner. Streletzki himself summed up the concept for his hotel in a slogan: "Four-star hotel at a two-star price". The hotel is connected to the Estrel Festival Center with the daily Las Vegas live show "Stars in Concert" and the Convention Hall, which offers space for around 6,000 people. In 1999 the Estrel was expanded to include a convention center for events for 100 million marks. Up to 1800 events take place here every year. Their thematic bandwidth ranges from party conferences, trade fairs and congresses to boxing matches and media events.
