Elías Figueroa , full name Elías Ricardo Figueroa Silva , (born January 26, 1988 in Casablanca ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.87 meter tall offensive player Figueroa played briefly in the so-called baby fútbol for Estudiantil de Paysandú . At the beginning of his career from 2004 to mid-2005 he was a member of the reserve (Formativas) of the Montevideo club, Liverpool Montevideo . Since the mid-season 2005 he was there in the squad of the professional team in the Primera División . In total, he completed 123 first division games for the Montevideans from the 2005/06 season and scored 23 goals. However, the figures for the 2008/09 and 2009/10 season differed in some cases, showing him one more goal or one less game in these seasons. In addition, he has two appearances in the Copa Sudamericana 2009 and one in the Copa Libertadores 2011 . In August 2013 he switched to CD Huachipato . In the Chileans , however, he only played four first division games and one encounter in the Copa Chile . He could not show a personal goal score in this engagement. In mid-March 2014 he joined the Uruguayan second division club Central Español , but was only used once (no goal) in the Segunda División by the end of the season . At the end of January 2015, he moved to Greece to Apollon Kalamarias . At the club from a district of Thessaloniki , he hit the opponent's goal twice in nine league appearances. Since July 2015 he has continued his career with the Uruguayan first division club El Tanque Sisley . In the 2015/16 season he played in 18 top division games and scored one goal.

National team

Figueroa was part of the Uruguayan U-16 team coached by Gustavo Ferrín and Ángel Castelnoble at the U-16 South American Championship in Paraguay in 2004 and finished third with the team. He played in at least two games and scored a total of three goals in this competition. He was also a member of Uruguay's U-17 team under coach Ferrín . With this he took part in the U-17 South American Championship in Venezuela in 2005 and became vice South American champion. He contributed to this with a goal in the preliminary round in the 4-0 win against Chie and with five more goals in his three appearances in the games of the final phase. This made him the second most successful goal scorer in the competition. At the U-17 World Cup in 2005 , he was also in the Uruguayan squad. In the course of the World Cup he was used three times and scored two goals. He was later called up to the Uruguayan U-20 national team and was a member of the squad at the U-20 World Cup in 2007 , where he played in two tournament matches (no goal).
