Elżbieta Aleksandrowska

Elżbieta Lidia Aleksandrowska (born January 1, 1928 in Grajewo ; † August 4, 2018 in Wroclaw ) was a Polish literary historian , editor and bibliographer who mainly dealt with the literature of the Enlightenment in her academic work .

Life

During the German occupation , Aleksandrowska lived in Warsaw from 1939 and attended the underground high school there . After the Second World War, she went to high school in Zalesie and then in Poznan in 1945 . After graduating from high school , she studied Polish studies at the University of Poznan from 1946 , where she earned her master's degree in 1950 . In addition, she worked from 1948 to 1952 in the bibliographic department at the Institute for Literary Research in Poznan. In 1952 she was then transferred to the Department of Literary History of the Enlightenment at the Institute for Literary Research in Wroclaw. With the work Zabawy Przyjemne i Pożyteczne 1770–1777 ( PhD supervisor : Tadeusz Mikulski ) she received her doctorate in 1960. From June 1962 she worked on the final editing of the series on the clarification of the Bibliografia literatury polskiej. Nowy Korbut and started working for the Polski Słownik Biograficzny . From 1968 she worked on Słownik pseudonimów pisarzy polskich . With the work Sutdia nad “Monitorem”. Z warsztatu bibliografa completed her habilitation in 1972 and was employed as a lecturer at the Institute for Literary Research in 1973. In 1980 she took over the editing of the Zapomniani Poeci Oświecenia series at the Institute for Literary Research . From 1981 she was a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Literary Research and from 1986 of the Scientific Council of the Polski Słownik Biograficzny . In 1985 she became an associate professor and in 1994 a full professor until she retired in 1999.
