Elard Briegleb (born May 5, 1822 in Hopfmannsfeld , † June 15, 1904 in Worms ) was a German clergyman and dialect poet.

Life

Elard Briegleb was born on May 5, 1822 in Hopfmannsfeld, the son of a pastor. After he had been trained at the Gymnasium in Büdingen , he moved to the University of Giessen to study theology . He then continued to study at the Friedberg seminary and then worked as a private tutor in Hirzenhain . In 1848 he was also a parish administrator . He moved to Groß-Biberau three years later, but did not stay there much longer, but moved to Butzbach in the same year, i.e. in 1851 . There, in addition to the pastor's position, he was also given the rectorate of the boys' school . He finally became vicar in Nidda in 1854 and then pastor in Alsheim the following year . Now he did not stay there for long either, after seven years, in 1862, he filled the pastor's post in Hohen-Sülzen and then from 1874 that in Pfeddersheim , which he held until 1895. Then he retired , which he spent in Worms and died there on June 15, 1904 at the age of 82.

Briegleb composed songs in the Hessian dialect , which is why he was given the name "singer of the Vogelsberg".
