Elbe-Weser cycle path
The Elbe-Weser Cycle Path (EWR) runs over 230 km (including alternative routes) from Otterndorf via Beverstedt to Bremen .
history
Around 1999, the tourism experts from Cuxland planned the long -distance cycle route and named it Elbe-Weser-Radweg (EWR). From 2001 onwards, the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) carried out further planning and implementation. Uniform signage for long-distance cycle paths in the district of Cuxhaven was established. Implementation was not started until 2005. First there was a route that had its own course from Ottendorf to Bremen. After the cycle path from Cuxhaven to Bremen existed as the cycle path “From Teufelsmoor to Wadden Sea” , the route from Beverstedt to Bremen was taken over. Only from Ottendorf to Beverstedt has its own route guidance been retained. In 2011 the district of Cuxhaven then published an information brochure on the EEA.
Route guidance and logo
The EEA runs on its own route from Otterndorf to Beverstedt. The license plate is “Otti”, who holds the Bremen key in his hand on a tandem . After Ihlienworth there are two variants of the route. The route continues via Odisheim , either around Lake Flögeln or on the shorter variant via Ankelohe to Bederkesa . Via Kührstedt , the route continues either from Ringstedt through the Luneniederung or via Köhlen and Geesteneth to Altluneberg - from there via Wehdel , Wollingst, Wehldorf to Beverstedt.
From Beverstedt to Bremen the route follows the cycle path “From Teufelsmoor to Wadden Sea”. Here the route is marked with a lapwing.
The original route did not lead the cyclists via Bremervörde , but via Wellen, Brunshausen and Hüttenbusch to Worpswede .
