Eleonora Kaminskaitė

Eleonora "Leonora" Winzowna Kaminskaite for Marriage, Eleonora Winzowna Ruokienė , (* 29. January 1951 in Stakliškės , Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic ; † 9. February 1986 in Kaunas ) was a Soviet rower .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, women's rowing was part of the Olympic program for the first time. In the double sculls had in 1974 and 1975 Jelena Antonova and Galina Jermolajewa won the world title. In Montreal, Antonowa competed in a single and Jermolajewa in a double quad , Eleonora Kaminskaitė and Genovaitė Ramoškienė competed for the Soviet Union in a double scull . Both won their lead before Sabine Jahn and Petra Boesler from the GDR and moved directly to the final one, the East German boat qualified through the repechage. In the final, Bulgarians Swetla Ozetowa and Sdrawka Jordanowa crossed the finish line three and a half seconds ahead of Jahn and Boesler, with Kaminskaitė and Ramoškienė rowing for a bronze medal two seconds behind.

In 1977 Kaminskaitė took fourth place in the single at the World Championships . In 1978 she rowed with Ludmila Parfjonowa in double sculls and won the silver medal at the world championships behind Ozetowa and Jordanowa.

The 1.78 m tall Eleonora Kaminskaitė started for Žalgiris Kaunas .
