Elim ( Central Alaskan Yup'ik : Neviarcaurluq ) is a town in the Nome Census Area on the south coast of the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska . The population was estimated to be 340 in 2016.
Elim is located on Norton Bay in the northeast of Norton Sound . The closest places are 63 km northeast of Koyuk , 82 km southwest of Shaktoolik and 37 km west of the city of Nome . Next to the state-operated Elim Airport , located on the outskirts, is the privately operated Moses Point Airport , 13 km northeast , to which a road along the coast leads.
92% of the population are of native Alaska origin.
The Iditarod dog sled race passes Elim on the way to Nome.
