Elisabeth Erdmann

Elisabeth Hildegard Erdmann (born July 24, 1942 in Calw ) is a German history teacher and ancient historian .

Life

After attending elementary school in Unterreichenbach (1948–1952) and Hilda-Gymnasium in Pforzheim (1952–1961), where she graduated from high school on March 7, 1961, Elisabeth Erdmann studied history and Latin from the summer semester of 1961 to the summer semester of 1965 University of Tübingen , where she passed the scientific examination for teaching at grammar schools in summer / autumn 1965. Meanwhile, on July 1, 1962, she presented the Graecum and on May 26, 1964 the Philosophicum. From December 22, 1965 to April 3, 1967, she was assigned to the practical training course at the Karlsruhe Studienseminar, the Reuchlin-Gymnasium Pforzheim , and passed the second service examination on April 3, 1967. At the University of Konstanz , she began working on a dissertation with Franz Georg Maier on April 4, 1967 , which she completed with a doctorate on April 30, 1971. As an assessor for the teaching profession, she taught from April 15, 1967 to July 31, 1968 at the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium in Konstanz . From August 1, 1968 to August 31, 1969, she worked as a research assistant in the history department at the University of Konstanz. She was a research assistant for the archaeological excavation in Old Paphos / Cyprus from September 1, 1969 to February 28, 1973. After Franz Georg Maier's appointment to Zurich , she only had half a position for archaeological research (March 1 - July 31 1973) and at the same time taught history, Latin and religion at the Gaienhofen Castle Boarding School with half a thesis . On October 15, 1973, she was appointed academic assessor, on April 21, 1976, a student councilor, on July 16, 1980, a student councilor at a university and on April 15, 1982, a senior teacher at a university. During the big holidays (1973/1974/1976) she was a research assistant and deputy of Dietwulf Baatz at the excavations of Mezad Tamar (Kasr Gehainije) in Israel under the direction of M. Gichons, Tel Aviv University , and Dietwulf Baatz. From August 1, 1975 to April 16, 1980 she was an assistant in the history department at the Freiburg University of Education . From August 31 to October 9, 1981 he took part in the excavations in Tiryns , Greece, under the direction of Klaus Kilian from the German Archaeological Institute in Athens . From April 1, 1984 to March 31, 1985 she was on leave to work in the context of the Antike in der Moderne project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation . a. in Braunschweig and in Paris . From October 1, 1988 to March 31, 1989, she only had half a job to continue the work that had begun in 1984 and then she was back to full employment.

She completed her habilitation on December 4, 1991 at the University of Dortmund and received the Venia legendi for didactics of history with special consideration of ancient history. In the winter semester 1993/94 she was visiting professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin for didactics of history. From summer semester 1994 she held the chair for didactics of history at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg until she retired after the winter semester 2006/07. During this time, she was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2001 to 2003 and Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2003 to 2005. She was one of the founding members of AGE (Old History for Europe) eV and from 1994 to 2001 the chairman, in 2004 she became honorary chairman. From 2001 to 2011 she was President of the International Society for History Didactics, and since 2011 she has been Honorary President of this society.
