Life
Elisabeth (Sabeth) Catez, the daughter of a French captain, was baptized on July 22, 1880. Even as a girl she was remarkably deeply pious, but first became a pianist. At the age of 21 she joined the Order of the Discalced Carmelite Sisters in Dijon and took on the religious name Elisabeth of the Most Holy Trinity for clothing . In the Carmel of Dijon she found the fulfillment of her life principle: "Let us live with God as with a friend, let us have living faith so that we may be united with him through everything". After the novitiate , she made her vows on January 11, 1903 . She wrote her prayer “Elevation à la Trinité” on the evening of November 21, 1904.
Elizabeth of the Most Holy Trinity died of Addison's disease at the age of 26 . Their relics are venerated in the Church of St. Michel in Dijon. In the Carmel of Dijon-Flavignerot you can visit her reconstructed cell and a small museum with memorabilia. On November 25, 1984, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II . Her feast day is November 8th . Pope Francis canonized Elizabeth of the Trinity on October 16, 2016 .
