Elissa Landi , née Elisabeth Marie Christine Kühnelt (born December 6, 1904 in Venice , Italy ; † October 21, 1948 in Kingston , USA ) was an Austrian -American actress and writer .

Life

Elissa Landi was born in Venice as the daughter of the Austrians Richard Kühnelt, an officer, and Caroline Kühnelt, b. Emperor who posed as the daughter of Empress Elisabeth . She had an older brother named Anthony Franz Kühnelt. The family initially lived in Kleinhart until the parents divorced. Her mother later married a Carlo Zanardi Landi.

Landi had roles in British, French and German films in the 1920s, and in the USA from 1931. In 1943 she retired from the film business and turned to writing. On October 2, 1944, their daughter Carolyn Maude Thomas - father was the author Curtis Kinney Thomas - was born in Manhattan , which was worth a note in Time magazine . She died of cancer in 1948.

She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1611 Vine Street .
