Elizabeth Debicki (born August 24, 1990 in Paris ) is an Australian actress .

Life

Debicki was born in Paris as the eldest daughter of a Polish father and an Australian mother. When she was five years old, the family moved to Melbourne . She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts at Melbourne University in 2010 with a degree in English and Acting.

Debicki had her first film role in 2011 in the Australian-British comedy The Groomsmen as Maureen. Shortly after graduating from university, she sent a demo tape to Baz Luhrmann for a role in his film The Great Gatsby . After auditioning in Los Angeles , she was announced as casting Jordan Baker in the film in May 2011.

In 2017 she took on the role of Ayesha in the comic book version Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 .

In addition to her work as a film actress, she has also appeared in theater productions in Melbourne and Sydney.

In 2018 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
