Elke Krasny

Elke Krasny (* 1965 ) is an Austrian curator, urban researcher, cultural theorist and art educator.

Life

Krasny lives in Vienna and teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the fields of art and cultural education, didactics of the visual, didactics of architecture, space and the environment as well as art and the public.

In 2006 she held a visiting professorship from the Ernst Georg Heinemann Foundation at the University of Bremen on the subject of ways into the city. Urban narratives and their transformation processes and in 2008 was a lecturer at the University of Salzburg on the subject of urban space gender - the production of urban narratives. Critical reflection as an intervention .

Along with Cynthia Schwertsik she founded the group Plan B . Their joint projects include the audio-slide installation Last Name , which addresses male dominance in the city's linguistic area. She writes regularly in the magazine architektur aktuell, in the daily newspaper Die Presse / Spectrum and in the magazine for urban research dérive she writes on the subjects of the city, the cityscape and the visual arts. In 2008 she published Urbanografien, which she edited with Irene Nierhaus .

Elke Krasny is a member of the Association Internationale des Critiques d'Art (AICA), the International Association of Art Critics in Austria , the Austrian Society for Architecture (ÖGFA) and the Austrian Association of Cultural Mediators in Museums and Exhibitions .

She is also a member of Helga Köcher's transdisciplinary network Emergence of Projects (EOP), the American comparative literature association (ACLA) and the Association of Art Historians (AAH).
