Elmar Gruber

Elmar Gruber (born May 24, 1931 in Prien am Chiemsee ; † September 10, 2011 in Munich ) was a Catholic pastor and spiritual writer .

Life

Born in Prien am Chiemsee in 1931, Elmar Gruber lived with his parents in Munich from 1932 . After graduating from the Theresien-Gymnasium in Munich , he entered the seminary , studied philosophy and theology at the Philosophical-Theological University in Freising and was ordained a priest in 1957 .

After a time as a chaplain in various parishes and youth chaplain , he worked for decades as a religious teacher in the school service. In 1964 he was appointed pastor and then worked in the school department of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising , where he headed the areas of practical religious education , training, advanced training and pastoral care for teachers.

Gruber published a number of books on topics of practical spirituality , reflection and the sacraments of initiation ( first communion , baptism , confirmation ).

He was the brother of the former vicar general in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising Gerhard Gruber .

Elmar Gruber died on September 10, 2011 at the age of 80.
