Elmar Juergens

Elmar Juergens (born October 13, 1954 ) is a former German soccer player who was active in Germany and Belgium.

Athletic career

Jürgens played in his youth at SpVg Olpe and made his adult debut under coach Gerd vom Bruch . He then followed the former Olper coach Werner Schumacher to VfB Altena in the Association League Westphalia . From there he moved to Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid , where he made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 1977/78 season he was one of the guarantors of the relegation of the promoted team with 15 goals in 26 games this season. He then moved within the league to Preußen Münster , the former Bundesliga clubas third in the table had just missed the promotion. In the season 1978/79 he placed with 21 goals this season among the top scorers of the championship, the club was again third in the table. After three goals in the first eight league games of the following season, he still moved within the league, the new station was SC Fortuna Köln - ironically, he played his last game in the Münster dress on September 15, 1979 against Alemannia Aachen , against the same opponent he ran appeared in the new jersey for the first time on October 27th and contributed directly to the 3-3 draw with two goals on his debut. In the summer of 1981, Juergens moved to the traditional Belgian club RFC Liège in the 1st division . With the club he played in the following years mainly against relegation from the top division, before the team under coach Robert Waseige qualified again for the European Cup as third in the 1984/85 season . Due to an injury, however, Jürgens had to slow down. In 1985, the sponsor of FC Remscheid piloted him back to Germany, where he started a career with the double floor manufacturer parallel to the end of his career. In 1999, Jürgens started his own business in real estate management in his hometown of Olpe .
