Elmer Raguse

Elmer Roy Raguse (born May 9, 1901 in Springfield , Massachusetts , † March 2, 1972 in Palm Beach , Florida ) was an American sound engineer .

Life

Elmer Raguse began his film career in the Hal Roach recording studio , which he became director. He worked on the set himself until 1932, then delegated this work to others while he took care of the sound mixing himself. At the time, this job was a one-man job. In a small company like Hal Roach, the sound engineer was also responsible for the sound editing of sound and music for short films . Until 1931 Raguse worked almost exclusively on short films, such as B. Films from the series The Little Rascals and films with the comedian duo Laurel and Hardy .

Raguse worked on over 100 productions for cinema and television . He was nominated eight times for the Oscar , but could not win it. After retiring into private life in 1966, he spent the remaining six years of his life in Florida until he died on March 2, 1972 in Palm Beach.
