The Elspebach (also Elspe ) is a 12.06 km long right tributary of the Lenne in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . In the upper reaches the creek is called Schwartmecke , in the middle course Oedinger Bach and Öhne .
geography
The Elspebach rises as a Schwartmecke west of Schwartmecke at an altitude of 439 m above sea level. NHN . The source is not far from Bundesstraße 55 am Sattel between Brammberg (529.2 m) in the north and Schneiderkopf (556.9 m) in the south. From here it initially flows in a south-westerly direction, but turns south after about a kilometer. The stream continues in this direction as far as Oedingen . With the mouth of the Brenscher Bach , the name changes to Oedinger Bach , also called Öhne . From Oedingen the stream flows back to the southwest.
After about 2.5 km of the river, the stream reaches Oberelspe . The Burbecke joins here on the left . From the mouth the stream is now called Elspebach . About 2 km below Oberelspe, the brook turns to the northwest and reaches Elspe . Earlier barriers between Oberelspe and Elspe were removed and the stream was renatured. At the mouth of the Bremker Bach , the brook turns again to the southwest and after another 2.7 km flows into the Lenne on the right . The mouth is at an altitude of 244 m above sea level. NHN .
On its 12.06 km long path, the brook overcomes a height difference of 195 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 16.2 ‰. It drains a 42.477 km² catchment area via the Lenne, Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .
Tributaries
The most important tributaries of the Elspebach are Burbecke and Melbecke . The Burbecke has the largest catchment area with 7.986 km² and the Melbecke is the longest tributary with 5.2 km in length.
