Elvira Plenary

Elvira Plenar (born June 13, 1955 in Zagreb , Yugoslavia ) is a (jazz) pianist , synthesizer player and composer living in Germany .

Live and act

Plenar studied piano at the Zagreb Music Academy and since 1975 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . Together with her partner, the pianist Markus Becker , she moved to Munich after completing her studies in 1980 , and one year later to Frankfurt am Main , where she still lives today. She played with many musicians in Frankfurt, including Albert Mangelsdorff , Christof Lauer , Ralf Huebner , Peter Ponzol and Alfred Harth . With the latter she also played the incidental music for Fernando Arrabal's The Architect and Emperor of Assyria ( Schiller Theater ) in 1987 . She was the pianist of the Frankfurt Jazz Big Band for a long time .

With Gabriele Hasler she recorded the CD sonetburger , an examination of texts by Oskar Pastior . A classically cast trio existed in the early 1990s with Peter Kowald and John Betsch (CD 1991). She played in a very chamber music duo with Vitold Rek . Plenar was involved in various projects by Lindsay Cooper (including CD and tour Oh Moscow ), has been a member of Marilyn Mazur's Future Song since it was founded , was heavily involved in the women's music festival Canaille and has been working with Annemarie Roelofs for a long time in a trio or Duo. She is also active in a trio with Meike Goosmann and Anka Hirsch.

In 1993 she received the Jazz Prize of the State of Hesse .
