At first Nixon refuses, but because one of his daughters wants Presley's autograph, the meeting takes place.

criticism

The film received mostly mixed reviews. On Metacritic , the film received a Metascore of 59/100 based on 37 reviews, and on Rotten Tomatoes , 76 percent of the 127 reviews were positive.

The film service thinks Elvis & Nixon is an “entertaining comedy which, after a somewhat disoriented beginning, focuses on the encounter between the two very different men”, “from which Nixon in particular changes”. In the first two thirds, Filmstarts .de writes a vacillating "Elvis & Nixon" [...] between gentle, whimsical celebrity comedy, clumsy, crude political satire and thoughtful tragic comedy about friendship, love and loyalty ". The resulting narrative imbalances are "not without attraction, but above all lead to some idleness because hardly any aspect is deepened". The mutual strangeness leads to a “delicious egg dance and Elvis snubs the top dog Nixon by breaking labels, whereby even reaching for the candy bowl becomes a power game”.
