Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is open. It is hairy like a cobweb. The young leaves are almost hairless.
- The large leaves are five-lobed and barely curved. The stem bay is open in a U-shape. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are medium in size compared to other varieties.
- The conical to cylindrical grape is large, shouldered and medium-density berries. The round berries are medium-sized and light yellow in color.
The fast-growing variety is particularly suitable for the warm coastal areas of California. It ripens approx. 20-25 days after the Gutedel . After the harvest, the grapes must be processed very quickly as they tend to oxidize .
