Emil Ballowitz

Emil Ballowitz (born November 20, 1859 in Greifswald , † May 13, 1936 in Münster ) was a German anatomist , zoologist and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school, he studied medicine at the universities of Greifswald and Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1884 he received his doctorate as Dr. med. at the University of Greifswald and became a prosector at the anatomical institute of the University of Rostock . He passed the state examination in dentistry during the winter semester of 1886/87.

In 1888 Emil Ballowitz became a private lecturer and in 1894 professor and prosector at the anatomical institute of the University of Greifswald . In 1904 he was offered an extraordinary professorship for topographical anatomy at the University of Münster . In the following year he became a full professor in Münster and stayed there until his retirement. In 1906 he became director of the anatomical and zoological institute in Münster. In 1926 he retired.

He lived in Münster i. W., Hittorfstrasse 10.
