Emil Berg (politician, 1874)

Emil Berg (born May 2, 1874 in Munich ; † September 29, 1957 ) was a German politician and mayor of Freising in 1945 and 1946 .

The electrical engineer Emil Berg moved from Munich to Freising in 1944 after his apartment was destroyed in an air raid. After the American troops had taken Freising on April 29, the police commissioner Andreas Rasch was appointed mayor for a short time. On May 2nd, however, the 71-year-old Emil Berg was appointed mayor. During his tenure, Freising was granted back the freedom of the district, which was revoked in 1935. After the city council election in May 1946, Karl Wiebel was his successor.
