Emil Janik

Emil Janik (born September 29, 1906 in Grattersdorf ; † June 26, 1981 in Passau ) was a Roman Catholic priest .

Life

After studying at the Pontifical University in Rome and Munich received Janik 1932 in Passau the priesthood . Afterwards he worked for a short time as a cooperator in Büchlberg , but was soon called to Passau as a seminar prefect. In 1936 he was appointed sub-rain of the St. Stephen's Seminary . In 1940 he became cathedral vicar and secretary to Bishop Simon Konrad Landersdorfer . This also appointed him to the cathedral chapter in 1955 . From 1943 to 1945 Janik was also a diocesan youth pastor. From 1974 to 1977 he was the cathedral provost chairman of the Passau cathedral chapter and retired on August 1, 1977.

Janik was its editor-in-chief from the founding of the Passau Diocese Gazette in 1936 until March 31, 1978 . During the Nazi dictatorship he was repeatedly charged and punished for offenses against the so-called pulpit paragraph .

Janik, who also did a great deal of service to the Marian Citizens' Congregation , died on June 26, 1981 in Passau and was buried in the canon of St. Severin's Church.
