Emil Scheller

Emil Scheller (born January 18, 1880 in Lenzburg , † September 15, 1942 in Solothurn ; resident in Lenzburg) was a Swiss painter and draftsman .

Emil Scheller was the son of a watchmaker from Lenzburg . When he was four years old, his father died and his mother moved to Einsiedeln with her three children . After Scheller had completed an apprenticeship in lithography , he attended the Zurich School of Applied Arts and acquired the Aargau district teacher license as a drawing teacher .

Scheller then worked as a designer and draftsman at a Würzburg art institution . From 1905 to 1911 he was able to finance his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with his earnings . His teachers were Gabriel von Hackl , Ludwig von Löfftz and Carl von Marr . Scheller made landscape paintings , still lifes as well as altar and church paintings .

In 1914 Scheller returned to Switzerland and attended the Académie Colarossi in Paris for a semester . During the First World War he did active service as a border soldier and then settled in Solothurn with his wife Anna, née Sperisen (1892–1985). He found his final resting place in the Feldbrunnen-St. Niklaus .
