Emil Schwabe
Carl Emil Schwabe (born June 12, 1856 in Ostrow near Zielenzig , Brandenburg province , † 1924 there ) was a German genre and portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .
Life
Schwabe worked as a printer until he was 25 . It was not until 1880/1881 that he began studying painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . During this time he turned to social and political issues. Hugo Crola , Heinrich Lauenstein , Peter Janssen the Elder taught him until 1891 . Ä. , Eduard Gebhardt , Adolf Schill and Wilhelm Sohn . From 1890 to 1998 he was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . Schwabe received an award at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893 for his socially critical work . In the same year he became a member of the Zielenziger Masonic lodge Stern St. Johann . In 1898 Schwabe left Düsseldorf and went to Berlin .
